REAL NAME: Steve Rogers CURRENT ALIAS: Captain America IDENTITY: Secret
KNOWN RELATIVES: Joseph Rogers, Sarah Rogers, (parents, deceased). AFFILIATIONS: Department Of Homeland Security BASE OF OPERATIONS: Department Of Homeland Security, New York Office
GENDER: Male HEIGHT: 6'2" WEIGHT: 240 lbs. EYES: Blue HAIR: Blonde UNUSUAL FEATURES: None on note.
ORIGIN: Altered Human ALIGNMENT: Good MARITAL STATUS: Single OCCUPATION: Special Agent of the U.S. Government CITIZENSHIP: American UNIVERSE: Earth-1050
POWERS:
The Super-Soldier Serum metabolized and enhanced all of Rogers' bodily functions to the peak of human potential. Dr. Reinstein described this potential as being "the next step in human evolution", while still remaining completely human.
* Artificially Enhanced Physiology: Rogers had no superhuman powers, although as a result of the Super-Soldier serum, he was transformed from a frail young man into a "perfect" specimen of human development and conditioning. Rogers was as intelligent, strong, fast, agile, and durable as it was possible for a human being to be without being considered superhuman.
* Peak Human Strength: Rogers' physical strength was enhanced to the very peak of human potential. As a result, Rogers was as physically strong as a human being can be without being classified as superhuman. Captain America had been seen bench pressing 500 kg (1,100 lbs) which was consistent with his strength level, as benching was easier than military press lifting.
* Peak Human Speed: He could run at speeds of up to approximately 30 miles per hour, and had on occasion run a mile in little over a minute (almost 60 mph) when under duress.
* Peak Human Stamina: His body eliminated the excessive build-up of fatigue-producing poisons in his muscles, granting him exceptional endurance. He could exert himself at peak capacity for several hours without rest before showing any signs of fatigue.
* Peak Human Agility: Rogers' agility was superior to that of typical Olympic athletes.
* Peak Human Reflexes: Rogers' reflexes were superior to that of typical Olympic athletes. Like most of his powers, his reflexes bordered on superhuman levels as he had dodged a bullet fired at point blank range claiming that he "could see faster than it."
* Peak Human Durability: Rogers' ability to withstand injury was superior to those of ordinary humans. This explained how he had survived the physical punishment endured throughout his career, such as building falls and explosions.
* Peak Human Metabolism: His enhanced metabolism, bloodstream, and immune system allowed him to heal from injuries or diseases faster than most humans. Captain America was still subject to all conventional human ailments, weaknesses, and vulnerabilities, though his immunity to most diseases was quite extraordinary. Rogers had stated he cannot become drunk and has never been sick after receiving the Super-Soldier serum.
* Peak Human Mental Process: Rogers' mental performance had been greatly enhanced, allowing his mind to operate in the most efficient and rapid manner possible. One manifestation of this was his tactical genius; the ability to quickly process multiple information streams (e.g., threat assessment) and rapidly respond to changing tactical situations. Rogers also possessed a near-edictic memory, meaning that he never forgot anything and had perfect recall. This enabled him to remember any military tactic and apply it to any situation.
* Peak Human Perception: Rogers had exceptionally keen eyesight and hearing. Captain America once stated that he was able to dodge bullets because he "sees faster than them".
ABILITIES:
Master Martial Artist: Having trained with such luminaries as William Essart Fairbairn and Rex Applegate, Captain America has mastered multiple martial arts including demonstrating ability in pressure-point fighting (where he rendered a guard unconscious using a nerve pinch). He combined these disciplines with his acrobatic/gymnastic talents to create his own unique hand-to-hand style of combat. He engaged in a daily regimen of rigorous exercise (including aerobics, weight lifting, gymnastics, and simulated combat). Captain America is one of the finest human combatants the Earth has ever known.
Master Shield Fighter: Captain America's training with his unique shield, as well as its physical properties, allow him to accomplish amazing feats with the item. Aside from bashing foes and blocking incoming attacks, Cap is able to throw it with nearly perfect aim. He is able to hit multiple targets with the same throw by means of ricochet, and could even achieve a boomerang-like return effect, allowing him to strike enemies from behind or retrieve the shield without objects to ricochet from.
Master Tactician and Strategist: Captain America is an accomplished strategist. He is widely considered one of, if not the greatest, tacticians on the planet, both on and off the battlefield. He is able to formulate battle strategies and his brilliant tactical sense allows him to alter any strategy to fit the changing need of the situation.
Master Acrobat: Rogers' years of training and experience make him an expert in the field of acrobatics and gymnastics as well as a stunning aerialist.
Indomitable Will: Rogers is a very strong-willed person. He is able to overcome most forms of temptation including physical, mental, and sexual.
Professional Sketch Artist: Rogers has great artistic skill which he developed from childhood. He enjoys drawing and does so with his free time.
Expert Marksman: He can throw most projectile weaponry with great aim and is well-versed in the use of firearms, though he preferres not to use them.
Weapons Proficiency: He does not typically utilize weapons other than his shield, but in desperate times or situations where he and teammates are outnumbered, he can wield additional weapons to ensure victory. These additional weapons have included firearms, bludgeons, and staffs, as well as swords. He likely received training with different kinds of weapons during his wartime experiences for undercover infiltration missions in the event of not being able to access his shield.
Multi-lingual: He is fluent in French, Russian, German, Japanese and possibly other languages.
Expert Pilot: He is a phenomenal pilot.
STRENGTH LEVEL:
He had been known to overhead press 800 lbs, but had also bench-pressed 1,100 lbs and curled 500 lbs. He was cited as having the strength of 10 men and had himself once stated that he had the strength of half a platoon of fighting men.
EQUIPMENT:
* Uniform: Cap's fire-retardant costume incorporated Kevlar body armor as well as a chain-mail shirt composed of light-weight "duralumin."
* Utility Belt: Cap had often worn a utility belt containing mission-specific equipment.
* Captain America's Shield: This is Captain America's primary, and usually only weapon. A concave disk about 2.5 feet in diameter, weighing 12 pounds, it was made of a unique Vibranium-Steel alloy that has never been duplicated. The Shield was cast by American metallurgist Dr. Myron MacLain, who was contracted by the U.S. government to create an impenetrable substance to use for tanks during World War II. During his experiments, MacLain combined Vibranium with a steel alloy he was working with and an unknown catalyst, creating the disc-shaped shield. MacLain was never able to duplicate the process due to his inability to identify the still-unknown factor that played a role in it; however attempts to reverse engineer its composition resulted in the development of adamantium. The shield was issued to Captain America by the government several months after the beginning of his career. Captain America did not have his shield with him when he was frozen in ice, and it has been in the possession of the American government until his revival.
The shield has great aerodynamic properties: it is able to slice through the air with minimal wind resistance and deflection of path. Its great overall resilience, combined with its natural concentric stiffness, enable it to rebound from objects with minimal loss of angular momentum. It is virtually indestructible: it is resistant to penetration, temperature extremes, and the entire electromagnetic spectrum of radiation. The only way it could be damaged in any way would be by tampering with its molecular bonding.
EARTH-1050 HISTORY:
Steve Rogers was born July 4, 1920, to poor Irish immigrant parents, Sarah and Joseph Rogers, and grew up a frail youth during the Great Depression. His father died when he was a child, and his mother died from pneumonia later when he was in his late teens.
Horrified by newsreel footage of Nazis ransacking Europe and atrocities in Asia that the Empire of Japan committed in China and Korea, Rogers tried to enlist in the Army that rejected him because of his frailty and sickness. Overhearing the boy's earnest plea to fight for his country, General Chester Phillips of the US Army offered Rogers the opportunity to take part in a top-secret performance-enhancing experiment called Operation Rebirth. Rogers agreed and was taken to a secret laboratory in Washington, DC, where he was introduced to Doctor Abraham Erskine (code named Professor Joseph Reinstein), the creator of the Super-Soldier Serum.
After weeks of tests, Rogers was at last administered the Super-Soldier Serum. Given part of the compound intravenously and another part orally, Rogers was then bombarded by vita-rays, a special combination of exotic (in 1941) wavelengths of radiation designed to accelerate and stabilize the serum's effect on his body. Steve Rogers emerged from the vita-ray chamber with a body as perfect as a body can be and still be human. A Nazi spy who observed the experiment murdered Erskine mere minutes after its conclusion. Erskine died without fully committing the Super-Soldier formula to paper, leaving Steve Rogers the sole beneficiary of his genius.
Rogers was then put through an intensive physical and tactical training program that taught him gymnastics, hand-to-hand combat from Colonel Rex Applegate and William Essart Fairbairn, and military strategy. Three months later, he was given the red, white, and blue costume of Captain America.
During the war, "Cap" served as both a symbol of freedom and America's most effective special operative. Then, during the final days of the war, on or before April 18, 1945[6], he was trying to stop a bomb-loaded drone-plane launched by Baron Heinrich Zemo when the plane exploded, apparently killing his partner Bucky and throwing Rogers unhurt into icy Arctic waters. The Super-Soldier Formula prevented crystallization of Captain America's bodily fluid, allowing him to enter a state of suspended animation.
In 2008, after the Fantastic Four went public, the U.S. Government formed the Strategic Hazard, Intervention, Espionage Logistics Directorate, or SHIELD. This extra-governmental body was tasked with monitoring the activities of superhumans worldwide, and was headed by Nick Fury, a career soldier in the American Armed Forces. Fury himself had received an early version of the Super Soldier Serum during WWII, and while it hadn't been considered a success, it had slowed the aging process and caused him to remain in great physical health over the years.
Unbeknown to the American government, Fury had his own agenda, and was secretly channeling funds from SHIELD into tracking down the body of Captain America, as well as information on 'Super Soldier' programs carried out by other governments since the war. He believed the he himself could be further enhanced if he could just provide SHIELD scientists with the missing piece of the puzzle.
In the autumn of 2010, Fury learned that a civilian operation in the North Atlantic had recovered the body of Captain America. He tried to mobilize a team to take control of the operation, the regular military arrived on the scene first, and the body was taken to Washington. Military doctors revived Steve Rogers, and the White House, desperate to bring the American people some good news, went public with the story, offering up Captain America in early 2011 as the government's answer to The Fantastic Four, and an agent of the Department Of Homeland Security.
ROLEPLAY NOTES:
Keep in mind that Steve Rogers has had a very short time to acclimate himself to 2011, post-9/11 America.
