I have a couple of thoughts that I thought I'd bring up.
The first is a question. Is this going to be a more comic-book feel or a movie feel - because I think that'll really dictate the way roleplays will be written and characters developed. In a comic book kind of universe, there's more room for your imagination to explore some wilder possibilities but in a "movieverse", there's a sense of realism that becomes grittier and depends more on strong character development.
There are advantages to both I guess.
Also, extending from the initial question: If go in the movie direction, I was thinking we could even choose pic-bases for our characters (like in e-fedding). The advantage in that, I think, would be that we can more customize the kind of physical appearance that our characters project in Earth-1050 rather than stick with the classic perceptions built from the comic books.
