Real Name: Fatima
Character Requested: Storm/Ororo Munroe
The Why:
Storm's backstory and evolution is one that I admired the most. Being North African, there aren't a lot of characters in the Marvel Universe that I can relate to on a personal level - but Storm is easily the most prominent. I feel like I can do a great job of making the character my own.
Character Proposal:
Descending from a tribe of gifted sorceresses in Kenya, Ororo Munroe was born in Harlem, NY but was stranded in Egypt when the aircraft she and her parents were on was attacked. She survived the crash, but her parents didn't. Only six at the time, Ororo became just another street orphan in Cairo. By the time she was a young teenager, she had become a skilled thief working for a local crime lord. When an unsuspecting Charles Xavier became her latest victim, he used his abilities to stop her and detected her massive potential.
He convinced Ororo to return to America with him, where he promised her a better life. However, once they arrived in New York, she was overwhelmed by the size and culture of the city despite the fact that she spent the first six years of her life there. Struck by her claustrophobia, she ran away from Xavier, ending up in her birthplace Harlem. Xavier didn't attempt to stop her, instead choosing to watch Ororo from afar and guide her slowly toward his new School for Gifted Youngsters.
