REAL NAME: Arkady Gregorivich Rossovich CURRENT ALIAS: Omega Red IDENTITY: Secret
KNOWN RELATIVES: None AFFILIATIONS: None BASE OF OPERATIONS: Currently: An apartment in New York City.
GENDER: Male HEIGHT: 6'11" WEIGHT: 425 lbs EYES: Red HAIR: Blonde UNUSUAL FEATURES: Bone white skin, Omega Red has long coils made of carbonadium implanted in his skin, an alloy that resembles adamantium but is more malleable and considerably less resistant to damage. Omega Red can cause the coils to shoot forward from openings in the undersides of his wrists in order to ensnare his victims.
ORIGIN: Altered Mutant ALIGNMENT: Good MARITAL STATUS: Single OCCUPATION: Unemployed CITIZENSHIP: Russian, although the Russian government currently believes Rossovich is dead. UNIVERSE: Earth-1050
POWERS:
Omega Red possesses various superhuman attributes as a result of both his natural genetic mutation and after undergoing augmentation procedures at the hands of the Soviet government during the 1960s.
Superhuman Stamina: Omega Red's muscles generate considerably less fatigue toxins than the muscles of an ordinary human. He is capable of exerting himself at peak capacity for about a day before fatigue begins to affect him.
Superhuman Durability: Omega Red wears a suit of bright red armor, composed of an as yet unknown material. This armor, which covers most of Omega Red's body, renders him highly resistant to injury. Even without the armor, Omega Red's body is tougher and more resistant to certain kinds of injury, such as withstanding powerful impact forces. Omega Red can resist blunt trauma, such as falling from several stories or being repeatedly struck by superhumanly strong opponents, that would severely injure or kill a normal human with little to no discomfort.
Superhuman Agility: Omega Red's natural agility, body coordination, and balance are enhanced to levels that are beyond the natural physical limits of the finest human athlete.
Superhuman Reflexes: Omega Red's reflexes are similarly enhanced and are superior to those of the finest human athlete.
Regenerative Healing Factor: Omega Red is capable of healing at much greater speeds than that of an ordinary humans.
ABILITIES:
Omega Red is also an excellent hand-to-hand combatant and military tacticia. He was trained in various forms of armed and unarmed combat by the Soviet government.
STRENGTH LEVEL:
Omega Red is superhumanly strong and is capable of lifting about 10 tons under optimum conditions.
EQUIPMENT:
Omega Red wears a suit of red retro-Russian armor.
Carbonadium Implants: Omega Red possesses retractable tendrils housed within his arms made of carbonadium, an artificial alloy that is the former Soviet Union's attempt at creating adamantium. Carbonadium is more malleable than adamantium and, while being vastly stronger than steel, is not as durable as adamantium. Carbonadium, however, is for all practical purposes virtually indestructible. Omega Red is able to use the tentacles as highly effective offensive weapons, often brandishing them like whips during combat. The natural durability of the tentacles, combined with his physical strength, are sufficient to cause devastation to just about anything they come into contact with.
EARTH-1050 HISTORY:
Omega Red was a Russian mutant formerly employed as a "super-soldier" by the country formerly known as the Soviet Union.
Little was known about the past of Arkady Rossovich except that he was enlisted, sometime in the mid-1960's, into a special program of the KGB, which wanted to create a super soldier similar to the one that the U.S. was rumored to have created during WWII. Omega Red was the end result.
The Soviet government implanted one retractable carbonadium tentacle within each of Omega Red's arms. Carbonadium was the Soviets' attempt to recreate the artificial alloy known as adamantium. It was a more malleable form of adamantium. He used them as weapons and as grappling appendages. He was able to a wrap a victim in his coils to literally drain them of their life energy. This vampiric tendency was once essential to Omega Red's survival; the carbonadium implants, while great offensive weapons, slowly poisoned him and he was required to regularly drain the life energy of a person, or perhaps take small amounts from larger numbers of individuals, in order to temporarily sustain his immune system.
Once fully trained, Omega Red was placed into suspended animation, to be awoken in the event of a war with America. For security purposes, the Cryo-Tube storing Omega Red was disguised and routinely moved from one military installation to another. When the Soviet Republic failed, the tube was 'lost' and records of it's existence destroyed.
In 2008, after the Fantastic Four went public, the U.S. Government formed the Strategic Hazard, Intervention, Espionage Logistics Directorate, or SHIELD. This extra-governmental body was tasked with monitoring the activities of superhumans worldwide, and was headed by Nick Fury, a career soldier in the American Armed Forces. Fury himself had received an early version of the Super Soldier Serum during WWII, and while it hadn't been considered a success, it had slowed the aging process and caused him to remain in great physical health over the years.
Unbeknown to the American government, Fury had his own agenda, and was secretly channeling funds from SHIELD into tracking down the body of Captain America, as well as information on 'Super Soldier' programs carried out by other governments since the war. He believed the he himself could be further enhanced if he could just provide SHIELD scientists with the missing piece of the puzzle.
In the summer of 2010, Nick Fury led a SHIELD Black Ops team on a secret mission to a long abandoned Soviet military base in norther Siberia. There, they found the Omega Red Cryo-Tube. Fury ordered the tube sent to SHIELD headquarters in Langley, Virginia, and it nearly made it there, but there was an accident as the tube was being transported from an airport to the base, and by the time a SHIELD team had arrived on the scene, the tube was empty.
Omega Red had awoken in a strange land, but he was able to escape into the Virginia foothills, where he took shelter in a hunter's cottage. The long duration without draining the lifeforce from humans had left him weakened, and although he knew he was dying, he vowed not to become the killer he had been designed to be. After seeing a newscast about the Fantastic Four, Rossovich decided he would attempt to reach New York, to see if Reed Richards could help him.
Rossovich made it to Four Freedoms Plaza, where he collapsed in the lobby. When he awoke, he was in the labs of Mr. Fantastic. Rossovich told Richards his story, and vowed that he wanted to become a hero, like Richards and his team. Reed decided to help Rossovich, and surgically implanted a Carbonadium Synthesizer at the base of Omega Red's skull. This device removed both the need and the ability from Omega Red to drain the lifeforce from living things. Unbeknown to Omega Red, it also contained sophisticated tracking devices, and a Neural Inhibitor that Richards could trigger should he ever need to render Omega Red unconscious. He later set Rossovich up with a bank account, a small stipend, and a New York City apartment.
ROLEPLAY NOTES:
At 6'11 and with bone white skin, it is difficult for Rossovich to travel unnoticed, so when not openly acting as Omega Red, he tends to avoid crowds.
